Information Overload - 0.4

Aspiring fast bowlers should be cautious when consuming information. I have seen many players misinterpret online information and end up causing more harm than good. Even coaches can try to replicate something they saw online and completely miss the objective of the exercise or drill.⁣

When I started coaching, I focused on quality over quantity when publishing content, because I recognised that my position in the industry comes with a sense of responsibility. If I say something, people will try to implement it. Therefore, everything that I publish or say has gone through a rigorous validation process.⁣

As a player, I fell victim to implementing ideas without a solid grounding in fast bowling, and I have come across many players who are constantly making the same mistakes as I did. It's painful!⁣

In the pharmaceutical world, drugs that eventually enter the market have undergone countless clinical trials. We don't have the same critical vetting process within coaching, and in my opinion, this is where the problem lies.⁣

Social media is a powerful tool, but nowadays, it's too easy to spurt out a theory, a drill, or an idea without any logic, evidence, or results. At SpeedCamp, we study, test, debate, come up with ideas and destroy those ideas. We're in constant pursuit of the facts, not fiction!⁣

The Three Energy System framework is based on evidence, not opinion. However, having a framework alone does not guarantee success. It's just one part of the journey. Making the trip comes with diversions. Whoever is willing to stick it out and work through the good and the bad are the ones who get there in the end. This collaboration is where a coach can become invaluable!⁣

Players should protect themselves and do their due diligence. Fast bowling is a unique skill that varies from person to person. Not everything you see or read has relevance to you and your training.⁣
