Strategy + Parameter = Roadmap to Success - 0.3
At SpeedCamp, we understand that fast bowling, coaching, and training are complex processes. However, our knowledge, experience, and intuition can help simplify this complexity.
Our main goal is to align a bowler's strategy to speed with a set of parameters corresponding to that strategy's success. For instance, if a bowler's strategy is to bowl fast by snapping harder in the crease, a set of parameters we may consider are their general strength and the rate of force they can generate in upper-body overhead exercises.
We constantly track and monitor ball speed to determine if the strategy and trackable parameters are aligned. The technology we have access to gives us a choice from an endless list of parameters. Our Performance Science division continually studies the data we track, researches the meaning behind the results, and identifies new parameters corresponding to increasing ball speed.
You can see a great example of this concept in action by checking out our latest post. This bowler arrived at SpeedCamp with the right intent but lacked intensity. We noticed an obvious technical flaw: the excessive collapse of his left leg upon front foot contact.
To fix this issue, we worked on improving his technical ability to brace the front leg and supported this objective by strengthening his lower limbs.
Eventually, we increased his strength, stability and power output.
We monitored his progress by tracking his ability to maintain the brace while increasing his run-up speed (skill) and his countermovement jump height (athletic attributes).
Guess what? The two aligned!
As a result, he can now bowl faster with less effort and improved efficiency.
However, we want to clarify that jumping higher is just one of many parameters we tracked for this particular bowler. We are not implying that simply jumping higher will make you brace your front leg.
Based on our scientific approach and level of specificity, SpeedCamp is one of the most attractive destinations for athletes looking to take their fast bowling to the next level.
